Description
Try your hand at Hagiyaki pottery, learning from a respected Japanese ceramics artist specializing in Hagi Ware. You will start by kneading the soil, then mold the Hagi Ware into a cup by using a potter’s wheel. Lastly, give into to your creativity and paint the cup to your liking.
Hagi is a castle town surrounded by water which has kept all the charm of an Edo-era feudal town. Discover the architecture of prestigious historical figures who shaped the industrial revolution in Japan, which started about 1870. Explore the samurai district with its unique and robust white walls that have survived centuries.
Head to Kimono Style Café. Put on kimono and stroll around the old town area. It is a great match to the atmosphere and provides plenty of Insta worthy moments.
Finally, do not miss out on visiting Hagi's hidden temples or the long-preserved Shōka Sonjuku Academy, and feel the solemn atmosphere that surrounds them.

Day 1

- Rent a car at Ube Airport or Shin-Yamaguchi Station
- Visit Hagi Meirin Gakusha Visitor Center. Formerly, this was a famous school were lords, members of the local Mori clan, received their education; Today it is a museum, well worth a visit.
- Lunch: Cafe at Hagi Meirin Gakusha Visitor Center or Kimono Style Café (choose either)
PM:
- Visit Hagi Castle Town
