Keep your eyes open for geisha while we bring you on a guided walk through the beautiful Gion neighbourhood soaking up the atmosphere. Then join in on the fun at the RAN theatre where you can hear a lively performance of traditional Japanese music. Join us on an informative and fun Kyoto Gion tour and enjoy the local performance as well.
Gion, the centuries old entertainment district, truly comes alive at night. We take you on a walk through the old tea house district, explain the customs of the geisha and apprentice maiko and help you discover this hidden world. Here we might even have a chance to catch a few of the girls in full costume rushing off to an appointment. A special sight indeed.
As we walk through these narrow streets with the lanterns flickering on the wooden buildings you can feel the charm of this special place. Wandering along these cobbled streets we will also take you to some places with a truly remarkable atmosphere. A night visit to a shrine, a full pagoda all lit up and other places of historic importance will leave an impression on you that you will never forget.
But this is not just a place for the entertainers of old. After the walk you get the chance to go see an exciting live performance at the RAN theatre in downtown Kyoto. This is a very lively and fun way to see all the traditional Japanese musicians on one stage playing song that are both classics and renditions of pop culture hits. Plus you can enjoy local sake and beer selected just for you and a few favorite foods like edamame, chicken karaage, pizza, fries and takoyaki octopus balls.
This is a fun night with a balance of fun and culture. I really think you will have a great time!
