As the city has vigorously encouraged international exchanges since the early 19th century, there are a lot of legacies inside the city, such as historic western-style buildings, coffee houses and French restaurants with long histories. The tour starts with Hirosaki’s French cuisines. Besides, the city has not suffered any damage during the World War 2, a lot of historic buildings still remain. Among them, we visit Hirosaki Castle and Zen Temple Village. Hirosaki is also known as the number one apple producer in Japan. We taste fresh apples, harvested just now, at Hirosaki Apple Park.
Lake Towada is the largest crater lake (formed in a volcanic caldera) of the main island in Japan. The lake accounts for an area of more than 60 square kilometers on the border between Aomori and Akita Prefectures. Because of its depth, 327-meters, the lake boasts of rich blue color, as well as picturesque colors of the surrounding forests.
Oirase River, a 14-kilometer mountain stream with numerous soothing rapids and waterfalls, flows from Lake Towada. Please do not rush, we enjoy pleasant and refreshing bicycle cruising along the valley.
Sukayu onsen is a famous ryokan with about 300 years of history, and the oldest spa in the Hakkoda Mountain area. Its bathing house, called the "sennin buro", has always attracted visitors from all part of Japan.
